International Hotel School seeks to quality assure its programmes through membership of a number of bodies, both educational and professional, who have an interest in promoting high standards within the hospitality industry. Our courses are both nationally and internationally accredited, and we believe that learning should be reinforced with practical training in the workplace (work integrated learning).
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
International Hotel School is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for the programmes as per Registration No: 2000/HE07/005. International Hotel School is provisionally registered as a Private College with DHET for the qualifications as per Registration No: 2009/FE07/077.
Council on Higher Education
International Hotel School and its Higher Education programmes are accredited (quality assured) by the Council on Higher Education (CHE)
At IHST we offer a number of CATHSSETA (the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority), accredited programmes within our Learnership, Skills Programmes and business-to-business short course training. Cathsseta is the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) [the Skills Act] for the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Economic Sector. The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) was established and registered in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998 and is responsible for the quality assurance of the accredited Management Programmes offered.
The Services SETA will ensure that the skill requirements of the services sector are identified and that adequate and appropriate skills are readily available. The Services SETA contributes to the improvement of sector skills through achieving a more favourable balance between demand and supply.
The vision of the Education and Training Development Practise Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA) is to be a promoter and facilitator in the development and improvement of the skills profile of the sector's workforce in order to benefit employers, workers and employees in the sector.The IHS Registration number ETDPS 1333
All qualifications in South Africa need to be registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Our full-time Diploma programmes and our Higher Certificate programmes are registered with SAQA. The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), founded in 1953, has been teaching leaders in the hospitality industry for over 60 years.
